Loans for exhibitions

The Manuscripts and Old Printed Books departments deal with both the technical-scientific and administrative matters relating to the granting of loans of the Library’s old and rare works to exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.

Loans of this type of material are subject, before authorization can be granted, to assessment by the relevant Comitato di settore del Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali, which requires the documents to be sent in at least 90 days before the date of the inauguration of the exhibition.

For this reason the library has produced the following form

The form serves as a contract, where the terms and conditions of the Library in relation to exhibitions are clearly set out. The text should be read carefully, and filled in, dated, stamped and signed by the person in charge; it must reach the Library of the Universitary Bologna at least 120 days before the exhibition is due to start. .

At the same time the applicant should send one copy of the

Cultural Heritage Transfer Document

for every work requested, with sections 14, 15, 16 and 17 compiled, dated and signed by the person in charge of the exhibition.

The organizers of exhibitions are, however, advised to make initial contact with the Director of the Library in order to discuss in advance both the details relating to the showing of the materials, and the likelihood of the loan being granted.
