Conditions of Membership
For the right to borrow books from the Library the following requirements must be satisfied:
Residents of Emilia-Romagna must supply:
- an identity card
Students at the Bologna University not resident in the Region must produce:
- a valid identity document
- a universitary document confirming enrolment on a valid A.A course
- proof of domicile in Bologna or province
Students at the Bologna University from outside the EU require:
- a valid identity document
- a document confirming enrolment on a valid A.A.course at the Bologna University
- a residence permit
- letter of introduction signed by a tutor
- proof of domicile in Bologna or province
Duration of loan
The loan period lasts for a maximum of 30 days and can be renewed for a further month providing that the work has not been requested by others:
It is not possible to extend via telephone, nor it is permitted to renew on behalf of others.
The Director of the Library has the authority to demand at any time the immediate return of any material loaned.
It is possible to hire two works at a time, up to a maximum of four books.
Readers are not permitted to lend to others materials loaned from the Library. Any contravention will result in the withdrawal of the service to the offender.
Readers are required, in their own interests, to check the condition of any books or materials borrowed and to inform staff immediately of any damage:
Sanctions
In the event of his failing to return a book or other material within the loan period or contravening the conditions of loan described above, the user is liable to be excluded from use of the Library and to be subject to the sanctions provided for in Art 58 of “Regulation specifying norms governing State Public Libraries”.
Material excluded from loans
The following materials may not be borrowed:
- books printed before 1951
- periodicals
- booklets
- miscellaneous bound materials
- general reference works (dictionaries, encyclopaedias, catalogues and bibliographies)
- works belonging to historical and special collections
- delicate works or those in an unfavourable state of conservation
- over-sized works
