The great staircase

The staircase was constructed in the 30s, in beautiful Carrara marble which is still bright and rich in fossil remains.

At the same time the sixteenth century frescoes then located over mantelpieces in the chambers of the Palazzo were removed and brought here; these frescoes, the work of painters of the renown of Pellegrino Tibaldi and Nicolò dell’Abate were recently restored.

The works here have the common theme of Fire, which was for long the practice in relation to pictures to be placed over chimney breasts.
